Mask Up by ztk2006 Mask Up by ztk2006
Text from GreenIsTheNewRed.com, Black Bloc'r taken from somebody else's flyer. I've always been really impressed with that flyer....

The author of this flyer is not affiliated with GreenIsTheNewRed.com, which is in fact run by fine, decent, upstanding and rather stylish individuals.

Anyway, download, print, post... : )

So this is even if you try whatever you can to not get arrested? Or just if you plan to get arrested from some kind of civil disobedience or direct action such as vandalism?

Whether you plan to get arrested or not, you will face police surveillance. I rarely mask-up these days and generally accept that I'm likely surveilled. But that's because I do above-ground work that is quite low-risk.

Terrorists? Oh boy.... far from it I would say >_>

And witch hunts really? Don't we live in the 21st century?

I recently found that one of my friends was placed on a terrorist watch list.

Real terrorists wear $5,000 suits and have the receipts for members of congress.

I have issues with the first 3 sites listed too, but I've yet to find better resources to direct people to for anarchist news and information... CrimethInc has also done quite a lot on the issue of the Green Scare specifically.

Green is the New Red is a great site, especially for anybody unfamiliar with the Green Scare.

Number 6 can't be stressed enough. Solidarity is the foundation upon which we stand...or fall.

Ironically, I was targeted for arrest (seemed racially motivated, as my friends and I were like the only 4 POC there and were targeted from the start as noted by legal observers) during a anti-cap march and the bloc locked arms to defend me, until the gestapo pushed us over some damn chairs or somethin'. $35 citation and a few hours in jail...for inciting a riot'. LMAO. Good times. Solidarity forever. :)

Great story! That's inspiring. Bummer about getting caught though... but I guess $35 ain't bad for 'inciting a riot' ;)

Yeah, this could be one of the reasons a lot of our actions happen in the middle of the night. I get the feeling that security is tighter here in the empire, at least as far as FBI shit goes.

We may also have less public sympathy... from what I gather, Greece has a fine history of rebellion in recent memory. You folks also seem to have an excellent anarchist movement going!

That is true we have a strong and quite massive anarchist movement here...in anarchy protest you can see children even 11 or 12 years old and workers 30,40 or even 50 years old...we usually protest at night.I can imagine how difficult could be to be an anarchist in USA but thats why i Admire you!!!:)

Haha, well, thanks, but I don't want to make it sound like we're all living dangerously under a repressive state. It's fucked up, but what really makes it hard to build a movement is the fact that the laws against squatting are really harsh and rent is really high. It's hard to sustain radical and anarchist spaces, and when we do get them, they tend to drain everybody's time and money, and make us work that much harder just to pay rent.

At the same time, I think we have a lot to learn from you. If we acted in the open more often, and were a little more daring, maybe we could grow the movement so it's like yours and then the FBI couldn't be so tyrannical.

Please check this site [link] its the site of an old factory that anarchist take it, renew it and live in there and make it an open reaction place for people so anyone who wants can come and follow us to our actions and believes. No rents and things like that:) its the biggest and maybe the most well organized squat in greece.

That's really cool! Maybe you don't know, but what are the laws against squatting in Greece? Where I live, squatting is considered breaking and entering, possibly burglary, and you can get jail time or big fines. And it's totally legal and expected for the cops to bust in and evict everyone, pretty quickly.

Is it the same in Greece? Do you guys just fight for the space when they try to take it? Does anybody try to take it from you?

I dont know exactly the law about squatting here in greece but i can tell you from what i see..anarchist complain and protest against authoritys and nation but i can see that there is tolerance from goverment to the squatts and that is good for us.the summer that just passed in the squat i go often a public prosecutor with police forces come to tell us to leave the building.immidiatly the next days we did postersabout that , squatting in radio stations to tell about us and protests to keep this building.till now no one get us out of the building hopefully:)there are nationalists, neonazism and fasist scums also that in some citys of greece they attack seldom at squatts but they are doing low damages and they are few...but as a general image and according to my opinion there is tolerance in greece and i am happy for this:) sorry for the big text:P
